Post-Workout Snacks for quick rider recovery

As riders, we know how challenging it can be to maintain consistent energy levels, on a daily basis with our busy schedules. There never seems to be time to just sit, right? That's why I never underestimate the power of a good ‘quick’ post-workout snack. They replenish the lost nutrients, support muscle recovery, and most importantly, are delicious! It won’t matter if it’s healthy if it doesn’t suit our taste buds. So, I thought I'd share my top three post-workout snacks to give you a few ideas on what you can do to refuel immediately after your EFA workouts.

1. My Favorite Protein Smoothie

Let me introduce you to one of my post-ride rituals. This delicious protein smoothie is a fantastic source of plant-based protein and other essential nutrients all in one product.

Recipe example: (more recipe’s here)

  1. 1 scoop of ProFlex Protein Powder
  2. 1 cup of almond milk
  3. 1 ripe banana (or frozen)
  4. 1 tablespoon of almond butter (or favorite nut butter)
  5. A handful of ice

Blend until smooth, and BOOM, a refreshing and nourishing treat!

2. No-Bake Protein Balls

Next up are these little yet powerful, no-bake protein balls. They're the perfect size and quantity that you can take and bring anywhere. I almost always include chia seeds for extra fiber and protein boost.

Here's how I make them:

  1. 1 cup of organic rolled oats
  2. 1/2 cup of almond butter (or favorite nut butter)
  3. 1/2 cup of honey
  4. 1/2 cup of organic chia seeds
  5. 1/2 cup of chocolate chips

Just mix in an oversized bowl, shape into balls, and refrigerate for a couple of hours. They’re literally an excellent snack when we’re on-the-go, which is practically everyday.

3. Healthy Protein Bar

Last but not least, is a simple protein bar. I prefer something quick and easy that I can buy in bulk, and can pack ahead of time. Here are a few I found to be a lifesaver. Each option has a variety of flavors, are plant based, healthier options and all have protein. If you have any specific allergies or dietary restrictions, please check each bar variety to see what works best for you.
